  Obtain removal/van hire quotes
Sort our garage/shed/attic/freezer and dispose of unwanted items.		  
     
  5 WEEKS TO GO    
  Confirm removal contractor ( check quote includes insurance against breakage's and property damage )
Arrange services such as washing machine/cooker disconnection.		  
     
  4 WEEKS TO GO -ONCE CONTRACTS HAVE BEEN EXCHANGED
    
  Fix date and time of move inform removal contractors
Arrange gas, electricity, telephone meter readings at old and new property
Obtain form P944 from post office and arrange to have mail forwarded.
Order any new carpets for new home and arrange fitting.
Start to clear cupboards and give unwanted items to charity shops.
  
     
  3 WEEKS TO GO    
  Write letters to water boards, council tax office, bank and confirm disconnection of gas, electricity and phone. Inform doctors, vets, insurance company, credit card company etc. of new address.  
     
  2 WEEKS TO GO    
  Post change of address cards Make arrangements for children and pets for removal day Make final arrangements with removal contractor Sketch a rough plan of new home layout and give copy to removers on moving day Make a list of useful and emergency numbers for incoming owners, plus information such as rubbish collection, local shops and milkman details.

 
     
  1 WEEK TO GO    
  Start packing and label items according to new home plan Pay bills, stop papers, milk Spring clean house  
     
  THE NIGHT BEFORE MOVING    
  Pack a box with tea, coffee, milk, sugar, mugs, teapot, small tools, kitchen & toilet rolls. Label internal/shed/garage keys and place in envelope.
